As per the third week of February 2009, pollock prices in Moscow continued rising. The industry insiders explained the price rise by stable demand and lack of the supply on the domestic market. In the meantime, the pollock supply on the export markets has been fairly good. The Russian fishermen have realised that mandatory clearance of EEZ's catches at Russian ports is not at all a complicated lengthy procedure, therefore they started boosting sales to the overseas markets. Even those companies which harvested pollock in the inshore waters have been keen to clear the cargo for further export. Russia's pollock exports have also been encouraged by very attractive prices on the overseas markets, which made little sense to bring the products to the domestic market at lower prices rather than export them at least at 1600 USD per tonne of headed pollock 25+ DES Qingdao, China.
