Viciunai Group to set up fish processing plant in Belarus

Lithuanian surimi producer Viciunai Company is to invest into the construction of seafood processing plant and logistical hub onto the territory of Belarus, reports http://www.megafishnet.com/.

More specifically, two new companies: Viciunai Bel and Viciunai Logistic have been registered in Belarus. From the Belarus' side, Ecofort Company which has been supplying and distributing frozen and chilled products under "Vici" label on the local market will be the partner of the project. The invested capital at first stage is planned to amount to USD5.00 million while USD3.00 million will be invested in first stage of the logistical center.

The project of creation of the plant in Belarus had been developed for several years. Among other possible partners of Viciunai Group the company names such leaders on the local market as Belryba and Minskrybprom.

Since 2003 Viciunai Group has been operating the production facility in Russian Kaliningrad region which has been supplying to CIS countries. The new processing plant and logistical center will be set up to increase production volumes, diversify the product range and optimize time of the products' delivery from plant to consumers.

The launch of the new processing plant is planned to take place by the end 2011.
