Looking back on a week dominated by harsh weather at the capelin fields (Barents Sea) - but herring to be penned-in in the Rogaland area in good progress, reports www.megafishnet.com with reference to Norges Sildesalgslag.

Capelin
Despite bad weather, the week was concluded by a fairly good quantity. Some 50.000 MT were reported, thus leaving just 100.000 MT as a rest quantity. The catching is now carried out at Tana/Berlevåg and the quality is good. The roe maturity is aprx 20 % and this should indicate the peak optimal part of the season. There have been few problems with feed in the capelin so far and the size has been good as well.
Last week some 30.000 MT were caught for consumption, while some 20.000 MT was reduced for meal&oil purposes.
Average price; NOK 2,44 for consumption and 2,32 for meal&oil.

Atlanto Scandic herring
The catching of Atlanto Scandic herring has had a good week in the Rogaland area when it comes to catching herring to be penned-in. The week's volume was 4.700 MT. The week's average price was NOK 3,88.

Blue whiting
From the fields west of Ireland, two catches have been reported last week. Both were delivered in Killybegs at highly favourable prices; above NOK 4,- as the best.
