Vladivostok-based TINRO-Centre fishery research institute has recommended to resume limited commercial fishery of crabs in the waters of the Primorye subarea in the Sea of Japan, reports www.fishnet-russia.com (www.fishnet.ru) with reference to VOSTOK-MEDIA.

More specifically, scientists from TINRO-Centre recently met to discuss correction of the snow crab opilio TAC in the southern sector of the Primorye subarea (from Povorotnyi Cape to Zolotoy Cape) for the next year 2010.

In connection with possible opening of the commercial fishery of the species in the north of the Primorye subarea TINRO-Centre has recommended to increase the TAC 2010 by 161 tonnes to 322 tonnes. This volume includes 300 tonnes to be harvested from commercial operations and 22 tonnes to be covered for scientific programs.
