Special radiation on monitoring measures introduced
This is to give notice that special radiation monitoring procedures are now introduced in Primorsky region in respect of aquatic biological resources harvested in the Far Eastern Fishery Basin and their derivatives. Relevant document was signed on March 29, 2011 by the Primosky Territory Border Department of Federal Security Service of Russia and Primorsky Territory Department of the Federal Agency for Fisheries, reports www.megafishnet.com with reference to PCA.
Radioactive contamination of aquatic biological resources will be monitored aboard the vessels calling at Vladivostok and Nakhodka seaports for customs clearance and state border control.
Officers of Primorsky region territorial administration of the Federal Agency for Fisheries together with officers of the Border Directorate of Federal Security Service of Russia within Primorsky region will be brought aboard the vessels in motorboats to be provided by vessel owners and take measurements of radiation background in cargo holds upon completion of border control procedures in coordination with customs authorities and vessel administration.
Findings of investigation of marine fishery products harvested (caught) in the Exclusive Economic zone of the Russian Federation and on continental shelf of the Russian Federation will be consolidated in a special log. Results will be entered into database updated by the Far Eastern Centre of EMERCOM of Russia.
These controls approved by the Border Directorate of the Federal Security Service of Russia within Primorsky region and Primorsky region territorial administration of the Federal Agency for Fisheries will complement the effective system of radiation background monitoring existing in respect of products for the Russian markets, with control procedures for exported products.
At the present time radiation background in the fishing area is monitored by instruments aboard research vessels of Federal State Unitary Enterprise TINRO-Center, escort ships of the Federal Security Service of Russia and fishing vessels of Pollock Catchers Association. Relevant data are updated daily. In accordance with monitoring data, radiation background values in the area are normal.
