Salmon Sliders Bring Home the Supercook Grand-Prize Award
Combine a freshly sauteed Chicken of the Sea Pink Salmon patty, a dinner roll, Thai sweet chili sauce, mango and cucumber to create Thai Sweet Chili Salmon Sliders, the grand-prize winning recipe from Chicken of the Sea's SuperCook Edwina Gadsby, reports www.megafishnet.com with reference to Chicken of the Sea.
The Chicken of the Sea SuperCook contest is the result of a partnership between Lifetime Television's hit morning show "The Balancing Act" and Chicken of the Sea to find someone who knows how to turn simple dishes into super meals. Home cooks across the country were challenged to create an original recipe using any Chicken of the Sea product, as well as share why they are someone who can turn simple dishes into super meals that are healthy, nutritious and convenient.
As the grand-prize winner, Gadsby, of Great Falls, Mont., will receive $10,000, appear on "The Balancing Act" to cook her winning dish and have her recipe featured on a Chicken of the Sea product package.
"As a home cook, I enjoy taking the ordinary and making it into something extraordinary; my Thai Sweet Chili Salmon Sliders are a perfect example of that philosophy," Gadsby wrote in her contest essay.
Participants were asked to submit an original recipe, essay and photo. Entries were judged based upon recipe creativity; use of Chicken of the Sea product in the recipe; embodiment of Chicken of the Sea's brand assets of health, nutrition and convenience; and taste and appearance of recipe.
"A few months ago, we set out to find our SuperCook, someone who could create a simple, yet wonderful meal that is also healthy, nutritious and easy to make," said John Sawyer, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Chicken of the Sea.
"Edwina Gadsby embodies Chicken of the Sea's brand assets, but she also blew us away with the creativity she put into creating her Thai Sweet Chili Salmon Sliders."
Following in Gadsby's footsteps, the first-place award goes to Veronica Callaghan from Glastonbury, Conn., for her Fancy Caribbean Crab Salad. She will receive $3,000 and her recipe will be featured on a product package. Second place and $2,500 goes to Melanie Stevenson from Reading, Pa., for her Shrimp and Crab Jambalaya Stuffed Peppers. The third-place award goes to Gloria Piantek from West Lafayette, Ind., and she will receive $2,000 for her Tuscan Tuna Melt Flatbread Pizza.
