Sakhalin fish hatcheries securing 80% of Russia's Pacific salmon reproduction

Sakhalin-based fish farming plants has finished salmon egg stocking for incubation, reports www.megafishnet.com.

According to Sakhalinrybvod, one of the largest State fish farming facility, the stock volume of pink salmon species surpassed 100% of the planned volume of stocking material; of chum salmon by 84%, the stocking of coho salmon eggs has just started. Privately-owned plants stock eggs at the expense of quotas.

Natural spawning areas in main salmon fishing areas in the rivers of South-East and South Sakhalin, Kuriles have been 100% full in spawners. These areas provide annually up to 90% of harvested volumes of salmonids in the region.
