Russia's seafood harvest 2009 showing positive dynamics for main commercial species

According to the provisional figures, in 2009 Russia's fishing companies harvested 3,675,000 metric tons of aquatic biological resources, thus exceeding the result of 2008 by 419,000 tonnes, reports http://www.fishnet-russia.com/ (https://www.fishnet.ru/) with reference to the nation's Federal Fisheries Agency.

Positive catch dynamics was observed for all the main commercial species such as pollock, salmons, cod, herring and flounder.

The Agency also said that in the year 2009 the share of Russian products on the domestic market grew to 70% and the average seafood consumption of rose from 13.9 kilos in 2008 to 18.1 kilos per capita.
