Russia's Federal Fisheries Agency has announced measures to limit flounder and wachna cod fisheries in the Russian Agency in the current year seasons, reports www.fishnet-russia.com (www.fishnet.ru) with reference to Prima Media.

More specificially, the Agency has introduced a ban on commercial fishery of flounder in the North Kurile subarea in the year 2009. Besides, in 2009 the commercial fishery of wachna cod is prohibited in the Kamchatka Kurile subarea.

The respective orders have been developed on the basis of the Federal Law "On Fisheries and Conservation of Aquatic Biological Resources" in response to the appeal from head of the Agency's North Eastern Territorial Department dated 14 May 2009 and recommendations of the scientific council of FGUP VNIRO (Russia's fisheries research institute).
