Russian vets strengthening control of fish products from China, Bangladesh, Norway, USA, Vietnam, Canada, New Zealand and Chile

Due to discovery of forbidden and harmful substances in fish and non-finfish products coming to the Russian Federation the nation's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) has strengthened control of products imported from fish processing plants of China, Bangladesh, Norway, USA, Vietnam, Canada, New Zealand and Chile, reports http://www.megafishnet.com/ with reference to the Service.

More specifically, according to the Service's Directive FS-AS - 4/12829 dated 15 October 2010, the following plants are subject to strengthened veterinary control:

1. China -plants:

- 4500/02038 (bacteria of the colibacillus group in shrimps),

- 3100/02051 (bacteria of the colibacillus group in eel),

- 3700/02916 (bacteria of the colibacillus group in squid rings);

2. Bangladesh - plant CTG 66 (bacteria of the colibacillus group in shrimps);

3. Norway - plants:

- М 394 (excessive volume of mesophilic aerobic and facultative anaerobic microorganisms in Atlantic salmon),

- F 55 (excessive volume of mesophilic aerobic and facultative anaerobic microorganisms in Atlantic salmon);

4. USA - plant No. 3014524 (bacteria of the colibacillus group in cod);

5. Vietnam - plant DL 252 (excessive volume of mesophilic aerobic and facultative anaerobic microorganisms in pangasius fillet);

6. Canada - plant No. 3122 (exceeded content of mercury in shrimps);

7. New Zealand - plant РН 177 (bacteria of the colibacillus group in mussels);

8. Chile - plant No. 10735 (bacteria of the colibacillus group in trout).
