Russian vets releasing list of approved seafood producers in Bangladesh
Russia's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance Rosselkhoznadzor has released a list of fish farming, fishing, processing and coldstorage companies of Bangladesh which have been approved for export of their products to Russia, reports www.fishnet-russia.com (www.fishnet.ru) with reference the Service.
According to the Service's directive No. FS-NV-4/8968 dated 20 August 2009, the seafood products shipped from non-approved companies of Bangladesh shall not be imported to the territory of the Russian Federation.
Under the same directive Rosselkhoznadzor has made it a point in the course of three months to secure, in the places of complete customs clearance, sampling of seafood incoming from Bangladesh to Russia in a regime of stricter laboratory control according to the Service's directive No. FS-NV-2/10741 dated 22 November 2008 (no more than 10 product lots for each approved company). The stricter controls have to do with the facts of disclosure of nitrofurans and their metabolites by competent bodies of the European Union in Bangladesh seafood. Additional sampling from the above mentioned product lots towards stricter lab control in the places of product storage and processing shall not be allowed. Besides, for the period of lab checks the products shall not be delayed, but sold according to the conditions of particular import permits issued by the Russian vets.
