Russian vets introduced restrictions for seafood importation from several Argentinean and Norwegian plants
Due to discovery, during monitoring tests, of forbidden and harmful components in fish products coming from Argentina and Norway Russia's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance Rosselkhoznadzor has imposed temporary restrictions on the import of products from the plants specified in the table as below as of 1 May 2009, reports www.fishnet-russia.com (www.fishnet.ru) with reference to the Service.
The restrictions have been introduced under the Service's directive No. FS-NV-4/3656 dated 22 April 2009.
In the event of products shipped before 1 May 2009 the procedure of products clearing shall be performed in accordance with the existing rules. Regional offices of Rosselkhoznadzor shall take sample from each product lot to conduct laboratory tests for forbidden and harmful components according to the directive of Rosselkhoznadzor No.FS-SD-2/3536 dated 18 April 2007. In case of discovery of such products the authorities shall act according to clauses 4-6 of the above mentioned directive.
