Russia's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) is doing a big upgrade of its document processing system to bring it in compliance with modern requirements of fast operation, accuracy and convenience of involved market players, reports www.fishnet-russia.com (www.fishnet.ru) with reference to RAD.

In order to automate processes of entering, analyzing and circulating permits (bans) for import, export and transit of seafood products (among other animal-based products) the body has been introducing a special computer system to link its Moscow headquarters with the territorial departments. The regional offices have been recently charged with the task of issuing the above permits by themselves thus saving time of businesses engaged in external trade.

When launched, the Internet-linked system will enable the vets to circulate the information about issued permits for import/export of inspected cargoes, animal feeds, etc. as well as on introduced or lifted restrictions for seafood importation from different countries.
