Russian Supreme Court confirmed lawfulness of veterinary control of salmon caviar turnover

The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation has decided not to uphold the appeal of OOO Orlando (ltd) claiming that Russia's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance Rosselkhoznadzor is not entitled to check products made by the company (canned salmon caviar).

However, the Supreme Court has rejected the appeal, thus confirming that the Service's operations do not conflict with the current legislation and do not violate the company's constitutional right of entrepreneurship.

More specifically, on 14 May 2007 the Supreme Court did not uphold Orlando's claim and the company then appealed to the Cassation Board of the Supreme Court which made a final decision to reject the claim against Rosselkhoznadzor.
