In Murmansk the Russian-Norwegian working group on fishery management in Spitsbergen met in Murmansk to discuss mostly local problems of the mesh size and the volume of bycatch, reports www.fishnet-russia.com (www.fishnet.ru) with reference to TV-21.

Head of Barents Sea and White Sea Territorial Department of Russia's Federal Fisheries Agency Mr. Valentin Balashov says that in 2009 Russia and Norway will develop single regulations for fishery in the area. He also says that one of the achievements of 2008 is that the specialists from his department have managed to issue fishing permits within 1 day as compared to 2-3 weeks practiced before.
