Russian fishing companies placing new building orders at foreign yards
While Russian federal authorities are trying to create conditions for ship building and repair at home, shipping and fishing companies in Russian regions have been actively ordering new vessels abroad, reports http://www.fishnet-russia.com/ (https://www.fishnet.ru/) .
More specifically, OAO Preobrazhenskaya Baza Tralovogo Flota Plc (one of main pollock harvesters in the Russian Far East) has placed an order on building of 2 BATM large autonomous freezer trawlers at the Ukrainian shipyard based in Nikolaev. Currently, the trawler is ready at 70%. The engine room with the system of fuel economy and auxiliary mechanisms have in fact being completed.
At present, there have already been ordered or negotiations are in progress for trawl gear, cold storage, processing and other equipment with companies of Germany, Russia, Ukraine, Holland and Romania. The Preobrazhenskaya Baza Tralovogo Flota Company's managers say the new trawler named "General Troshev" will start fishing in the Pacific fisheries of Russia by 2010.
However, in the current situation of the world financial crisis the company has some problems to get loans to complete the building of the vessel. But, possibly, the Russian agricultural bank Rosselkhozbank will take part in the financing of completion of the vessels, said Russia's Federal Fisheries Agency's Head Andrey Krainy.
