Russian fishery of Atlanto-Scandian herring closed
The Russian fishery of Atlanto-Scandian herring in the current year 2006 was formally closed on 24 November 2006. Thus, by a faxed circular No. 06/19369 dated 24 November 2006 the Norwegian authorities closed herring fishery for the Russian vessels in the Norwegian EEZ and in the fishing zone of the Yan-Mayen Island.
According to the Norwegian figures, the Russian herring quota 2006 of 118,221.6 tonnes was completely covered.
