The Russian catch to November 2006 inclusive was provisionally recorded at 3,007,200 metric tons to display an absolute rise of 25,800 tonnes on the same period of 2005, according to Russia's Federal Fisheries Agency.

In particular, an increase was still reported in the Russian Far East where the harvest grew 1.4% year-on-year to 1,858,300 tonnes, an indication of deceleration in the last months of the year.

Increases were registered in Murmansk-led North Basin (10,800 tonnes up) and in the Baltic Sea (40,100 tonnes up).

There were however some reductions in the Black Sea, Sea of Azov and the Caspian Sea.
