The fishing fleet based in the Russian Far East is working at further big modernization with the purpose of increasing the volumes of Alaska pollock fillets production for Russian consumers and the hungry world markets, reports http://www.fishnet-russia.com/ with reference to PrimaMedia.

This plan is taking off along with the starting certification of Russian pollock fisheries by MSC.

According to the President of Alaska Pollock Catchers Association German Zverev, several more companies among which is OAO Turnif (plc) are going to install the equipment for fish filleting on their vessels in order to increase the volume of Alaska pollock supplied to both domestic and foreign markets.

Previously, at the time of his speech at the plenary meeting of The International Fishermen Congress the president of OOO BAMR Managing Company Peter Savchuk pointed out that over the past four years Alaska pollock fillets consumption in Russia has increased by 10 times.

Meanwhile, the existing capacities for fillets production are not sufficient while a big proportion of the Russian caught fish exported to China as H&G material for processing into fillets, which means that the Russian Federation actually subsidizes the Chinese fish processors and bears losses, according to the president of OOO BAMR.
