Results of seafood export from Kamchatka in 2006
In 2006 Kamchatka exported seafood products at the total value of 359.7 million USD, 3.8% down on 2005, according to Kamchatstat statistics service.
In the year under analysis 75 companies based in Kamchatka operated on the international market. The total share of such producers as OAO Okeanrybflot (plc), JSC ZAO Akros, Imeni Lenina fishing co-op, JSC ZAO Kamchatimpex and OOO Polluks (ltd) amounted to 49.2% of the province's total seafood exports.
In natural figures export supplies of mollusks jumped 9.5-fold on 2005, shellfish - by 26.7% and canned fish - by 3.3%. At the same time, supplies of the following product groups decreased: salted fish - by 80.9%, fishmeal - by 22%, frozen fish and fish fillets - by 12%.
The share of Kamchatka's seafood export to South Korea amounted to 65.5%, followed by Japan with its 17.4%, USA - 8.5% and China - 5.8%.

The share of seafood products sold beyond the Russian customs zone accounted for 73.9% of the total volume of Kamchatka's exports (down from 76.8% in 2005). More specifically, according to Kamchatstat, in 2006 Kamchatka-based companies sold 98.2% of fish fillets and mince, 95.4% of fishmeal, 88% of ready-to-eat or canned fish, 76.4% of shellfish, 73% of frozen fish and 14.8% of salted fish beyond the nation's 12-mile zone.
As per 1 January 2007 the accumulative value of foreign investments into the province's economy amounted to 261 million USD. The largest share of 85% from the above figure was recorded for the investments under the so called "other" category, while the share of direct investments amounted to 15%. More than one half of accumulated investments (52%) belonged to the UK, 11% - to Czechia and 10% to South Korea.
In 2006 the inflow of foreign capital taking into account investments in Russian rubles converted into USD) amounted to 45.2 million USD or 61% up on the previous year 2005.
The bulk of foreign investments (59%) came to leading companies engaged in geological and geophysical activities. The share of companies mostly engaged in mining operations amounted to 33%.
In 2006 investments to the economy of Kamchatka province came from 9 countries. The largest share of foreign investments (51% namely) belonged to South Korea.
