Putin telling industry to create more value in Russia

In his annual message to the Federal Assembly (dated 26 April 2007) Russia's President Vladimir Putin has underlined the need to stop issuing catch quotas to foreign companies as it is widely practiced by other governments.

Putin has strongly emphasized that in terms of priorities the fishing quotas should first of all be allocated to Russian companies developing own fish processing and the government should develop further measures to suppress smuggling and illegal fishery.
