Proposed huge concern to boost fleet renewal

Russia's Federal Fisheries Agency is planning to create 100%-government-owned Rosrybflot Company on the basis of OAO Arkhangelsk Trawl Fleet (plc). The new entity would be responsible for renewal of the fishing fleet which is still operated by government entities.

In particular, Rosrybflot would organize construction of newbuildings and would take delivery of vessels to be built under the guarantees of the government. Besides, the proposed corporation would take over emergency vessels of Rosrybflot's subordinate organizations as well as OAO Arkhangelsk Trawl Fleet (plc) running 24 fishing trawlers, one transport reefer and several supply boats.

In the first two or three years of operation, while the new vessels are not delivered yet, Rosrybflot would exploit the existing vessels transferred to its balance-sheet. Subject to competitive conditions, Rosrybflot would probably place its shipbuilding orders at the domestic yards, but it would have no direct link with the United Ship Building Corporation which is being established now to bring together Russia's government-owned naval yards.
