Pelagic catches worth Isk3.40 billion

Catches landed by HB Grandi's pelagic vessels last year came to 96,400 tonnes, with a value of ISK3.40 billion. This represents an 8% reduction in landings compared to 2009, but with a 28.30% value increase, reports www.megafishnet.com with reference to HB Grandi.


These figures appear in a review of HB Grandi's pelagic operations for 2010. Faxi RE was the top catching vessel with 32,248 tonnes, while Ingunn AK was close behind with 32,224 tonnes. Lundey NS's landings for the year totalled 29,340 tonnes, while Víkingur AK, which was at sea for only a few trips, landed 2560 tonnes.

Ingunn, Faxi and Lundey all have similar figures for their catch values. Ingunn landed fish worth ISK1,145,000. Faxi's catch was worth ISK1,112,000 and Lundey earned ISK1.047,000. Víkingur's few trips brought in ISK127,80 million.
