Overview of quota take-up of aquatic biological resources by Russian fishery companies
In Russia's EEZ the actual catch volume totaled 1.086 million tonnes that is 114,000 tonnes more when compared to the same period in 2007. The quota take-up amounted to 26% of the TAC.
The Russian Far East Basin
The Alaska pollock catch in the Sea of Okhotsk totaled 636,000 tonnes that is 146,000 tonnes more than in 2007. The herring catch in the Sea of Okhotsk was recorded at 55,000 tonnes that is 23,000 tonnes less in comparison with the catch level in 2007 due to unfavorable fishing conditions in the region.
Murmansk-led North Fisheries Basin
The total catch of cod totaled 103,000 tonnes that is 31,000 tonnes more than the catch in 2007.
The Baltic Sea
The total catch of aquatic biological resources was recorded at 17,500 tonnes that is 3,400 tonnes less as compared with the catch level of 2007 due to unfavorable fishing conditions in the region.
Azov-Black Sea Basin
The catch of sprat (local name tulka) since the beginning of the year 2008 totaled 900 tonnes that is 1 700 tonnes less in comparison with the level of 2007 due to unfavorable fishing conditions in the region.
Caspian Basin
The Baltic sprat catch amounted to 5,500 thousand tonnes (4,300 tonnes less than in 2007).
Foreign EEZs
The quota take-up of aquatic biological resources in foreign EEZs totaled 181,000 tonnes that is 23,000 tonnes less than in 2007.
Convention zones and open part of the oceans
The quota take-up of aquatic biological resources in these areas amounted to 102,000 tonnes that is 9,000 tonnes less in comparison with the level of 2007. It resulted from unfavorable fishing conditions on blue whiting, herring and redfish grounds.
