Outlook for fisheries in the seas of the Russian Far East in Q4 2010
In the fourth quarter of the current year the recommended commercial harvest is estimated at 892,500 tonnes with as much as 738,200 tonnes to be covered beyond the territorial sea, in the nation's EEZ, reports http://www.megafishnet.com/ with reference to fishery sources in Vladivostok.
The bulk of the harvest in the fourth quarter of the year will be contributed by pollock (34.8% or 311,000 tonnes). Pollock will be followed by herring (22.6% and a little more than 200,000 tonnes), squid (ca.14% and 124,500 tonnes) and saury (6.7% and 60,000 tonnes).
The shares of other species are forecasted to be as follows: 3% of flounder, 2.6% of cod and 3.1% of Atka mackerel. Catches of sculpins may amount to 14,800 tonnes and those of wachna cod - 14,500 tonnes.
The harvest of grenadier is forecasted at 19,000 tonnes, catches of all crab species are expected at 12,700 tonnes.
In the fourth quarter of the year the salmon season will be completely closed, from the middle of October 2010 the pollock fishery will resume in the Sea of Okhotsk, where the herring fishery will also grow brisker. The saury season will be continued, just like the fishery of inveterbrates.
The scientists recommend the fishing companies to pay attention to fishery of pelagic species such as squid, deepsea crabs and seaweed.
