Norwegian Salmon exports to Russia in May 2010
Norwegian exports of salmon and trout kept growing in May 2010, reports http://www.megafishnet.com/ (https://www.fishnet.ru/) with reference to NSEC.
More specifically, in terms of value, exports of Norwegian Salmon to Russia increased by 51% in May 2010 to a total of NOK 183 million, while export volume increased by 40% to 5,031 tonnes compared to the same period last year.
"Most of this growth is due to a corresponding reduction in supplies of Norwegian Fjord Trout," explains market analyst Paul Aandahl from the Norwegian Seafood Export Council. "The total volume of exports to Russia of Norwegian Salmon and Norwegian Fjord Trout combined increased by a more modest 2% in May compared to the same month last year."
The biggest export market for Norwegian trout in May 2010 was Russia, with a value amounting to NOK 54 million. This represents 53% of the total value of all exports of Norwegian Fjord Trout in May.
Herring and mackerel
In January - May 2010 Russia was the biggest export market for Norwegian herring with export value for the period totalling NOK 512 million. Russia was also the biggest importer of mackerel from Norway.
