With Ukraine coming forward as one of the main markets for Norway's  supplies of herring, mackerel, capelin and blue whiting, the nation's pelagic producers have been making every effort  to keep strong presence on this market , reports https://www.fishnet.ru/ / http://www.fishnet-russia.com/ with reference to Fishindustry.

More specifically, Norway-based Egersund AS has set up a subsidiary OOO Egersund-Ukraine in Kiev this year. The company is headed by ex-commercial director of a major Ukrainian importer Scandinavia Mr. Pavel Solovyov.

In early October 2009 immediately prior to the high season for pelagic sales the newly-launched office has staged a reception in the Norwegian Embassy to introduce itself to major Ukrainian processors including both existing and prospective customers.

During the reception the company has outlined plans for short-term and long-term development making it a point that in the near future it is not going to expand the sales range by table fish originating from countries other than Norway.

Meanwhile, as regards herring and mackerel, Norway Pelagic AS reportedly led the exports to Ukraine in 2008.
