Saint Petersburg-based Fregat Company is planning to build a crab sticks factory in Novgorod, the Great, about 300 km southeast of Saint Petersburg, with the facility's design capacity amounting to 1000 tonnes of products per month, according to IA Regnum.

The construction budget of the project is estimated at 1.2 million USD. The city's government has allocated a land site of 11.3 ha in the Derzavina Street.

According to the design of the project, preprocessed raw material will be supplied from the Russian Far East. At the new factory the products will be finally processed and packed into crab sticks, etc. The factory will employ 250 people. Commissioning of the factory is scheduled for the current year 2007.
