Modern fish feed producing plant launched in Russian regional capital

A new state-of-the-art plant AQUAREX will be commissioned in Tver (regional capital 150 km away from Moscow) and begin production of fish feeds in April 2009, reports www.fishnet-russia.com (www.fishnet.ru) with reference to the company.

During a number of years such feeds have been practically 100% imported from the Western Europe because none of the Russian fish feeds producers has been able to compete with the foreign producers in terms of product quality. Therefore now most of the Russian fish breeders use high quality and high-tech imported feeds. Actually, the Russian farmers have to purchase feeds at higher prices than their European colleagues, and in the situation the fish products originating from the domestic farms can hardly compete with the imported products due to their higher production cost.

The plant's commissioning is aimed to provide the nation's fish farmers with high quality feeds competitive to foreign feeds, to offer the necessary flexibility of the product range, prices and supplies and finally to contribute to raising efficiency of the fish farming sector in Russia.

Use of AQUAREX's products is to enable the farmers to decrease the feeds' share in the cost price of final products, to diminish the feed rate and to raise fish to market size in shorter time. The plant's location in Tver in the vicinity to Moscow is supposed not only to decrease the delivery costs, but also to secure delivery in good time.

The new plant AQUAREX has been completely designed by specialists of the Swiss concern Bühler AG which is an acknowledged world expert in feed production equipment offering its customers the latest developments in the sphere.

The production process is managed by one operator in automated regime thus minimizing influence of the human factor on the end result and decrease an error risk. The newest dual extruder enables production of sinking, floating and slowly submerging granules from 0.15 to 15 mm with the stability period of up to 24 hours, while the system of vacuum evaporation provides for a fat content of up to 40%.

The technological capacities of the equipment enable production of starter and production feeds of high quality for various farmed species such as sturgeons, salmons, carps and shrimps.

The quality of the raw fish used for production is no less important for the end result than the capacities of the production plant. Therefore the company has strict requirements to the raw material. All the key ingredients are imported in cooperation with reliable suppliers and the incoming raw material is routinely checked for main indices by the plant's laboratory.

The company says the AQUAREX fish feeds provides for a low level of feed rate, good fish health, resistance to diseases, low losses of feeds caused by washing out and minimum water pollution. They are completely balanced in terms of nutrients, vitamins, minerals, amino acids and fatty acids. All the feeds are compliant with the ISO 9001:2001 standard.
