Russia's seafood import from Norway remaining high
In September 2011 Norwegian seafood exports the Russian market totaled Euro 60.5 million, that staying approximately on a par with the corresponding result of last year, reports http://www.megafishnet.com/.
In volume terms exports amounted to 26,000 MT, slightly up from 25,400 MT in September 2010. Total Norwegian seafood exports to Russia in January-September 2011 amounted to Euro 460 million.
In the meantime, in September 2011 the total value of Norwegian seafood exports to all markets kept declining. As compared to the same period of 2010 the result declined by Euro 76 million to Euro 655 million. The fall could be mostly attributed to smaller value of Atlantic salmon (nearly by Euro 52 million) to Euro 308 million. Analysts say that was due to increased shipments of Atlantic salmon both from Norway and other exporting countries. More specifically, the export volume of Norwegian salmon grew by 15% to 11,000 MT. Moreover, several markets showed lower retail prices for Atlantic salmon which should lead to stronger consumer demand.
In January-September 2011 Norway exported seafood products to the international markets at the total value of Euro 4.87 billion, Euro 97.5 million up on the same period last year.
