In mid-July 2021 salmon and trout prices in Moscow stay calm
Current July has been featuring weak trade in the wholesale market of frozen salmon and trout in Moscow, reports Megafishnet.com.
The red fish market is normally stable in terms of prices. There are offers at prices greatly differing from companies’ price lists, as traders realise that sales in July will be weak. The only price movement was observed for Faroese salmon, which slightly appreciated. Probably, the artificial rise occurred in connection with the inventories that importers had to sell at lower prices on the first week of July, due to the antiCOVID restrictions introduced in Moscow.
Murmansk chilled salmon is offered only in size 4/5, larger sizes are offered without confirmation.
Deferred demand has slowed down prices on the market, the inventories has continued piling up in the coldstores. At the same time, importers begin purchases for the new season with the delivery scheduled for September-October, and it is possible that the purchase price in Chile has become more acceptable and no dramatic rise should be expected.
Price range ex-Moscow cold storage as of 14 July 2021
