Dynamics of Russia’s seafood imports in Q1 2012
In March 2012 Russian importers activated their purchases of seafood products on the world market with the import volume through the month amounting to 106,500 MT, almost the same as in the first two months of the year (134,100 MT), reports www.megafishnet.com.
As a result, in the first quarter 2012 Russian companies imported ca.240,600 MT of seafood with the customs value declared at more than RUR 17.7 billion. Rise on the first quarter of 2011 amounted to ca. 22% by volume and 15% by value.

Undisputable leader both in terms of shipments volume and value was Russian Fish Company JSC which in the first quarter of 2012 purchased on the world market nearly 22,000 MT of seafood (winning 9% in the nation’s total fish import volume) at the total value of RUR 1.92 billion (10.89%).
