In fact, the demand has considerably weakened. It is a typical summer situation aggravated by negative trends in Europe with traders growing cautious to buy big quantities.
As a result, as per mid-June the prices for cod have been gradually falling while haddock prices dived by about 20% in a matter of a week and finding buyers for haddock became quite a problem.
It must be noted however that not all Russian fishing companies sell HG cod of popular sizes as this material is often used for fillet production.
Cod fillets are made at sea mostly in skin-on form as skinned cod fillets have a relatively small market.
