Kamchatka season to take off under 20-year concessions
This year the salmon season in Kamchatka will be taking off in a situation of long-term fishing rights, reports http://www.fishnet-russia.com/ (https://www.fishnet.ru/) with reference to FishKamchatka.
More specifically, the season is to be launched on 1 June 2009 and the fishermen have recently gathered in the province's administration to discuss new rules for the season. Starting from last year the fishery is conducted only by those fishermen who have got contracts for commercial exploitation of the salmon fishing sites (20-year concessions).
In June 2009 the fishermen based on the eastern coast of Kamchatka will be the first to open the fishery.
