Kamchatka-based fish hatcheries have practically completed stocking of the salmon roe, reports www.fishnet-russia.com (www.fishnet.ru) with reference to VOSTOK-MEDIA.

As per early September 2009 the province's five hatcheries have met their stocking target at more than 90%. Thanks to generous runs of salmon the hatcheries are planning to fulfill their roe stocking plan at 100%. For comparison last year the plan was covered at 60% only. Next year Paratunsky hatchery can achieve the design capacity and boost production of fish fry released into the rivers to 21 million salmons.

There are five fish hatcheries working in Kamchatka: Ketchinsky, Vilyuisky, Paratunsky, Malkinsky and Ozerki. Salmon reproduction operations have been conducted in the area for more than 25 years. Every year the hatcheries release from 30 to 40 million fry of chum salmon, coho salmon, sockeye and Chinook.
