Ten Icelandic pelagic boats are currently tied up in the Faroes, five in Tórshavn and another five at Tvøroyri, where their crews are waiting for the blue whiting to migrate out of EU waters and into the Faroese EEZ. Two Icelandic vessels were searching in Faroese waters and in the gray zone to the south, and they caught some blue whiting in the middle of the week...

The last few days have seen 4,000 tonnes of blue whiting landed at HB Grandi’s Akranes fishmeal plant and production is now a round-the-clock operation with two twelve-hour shifts running. The big plant is running at full capacity on blue whiting, while the smaller facility that was recently commissioned is producing bone meal...

There was good fishing in international waters west of Ireland last week, but it seems that the fishing has dropped away and the Icelandic vessels fishing there had to work hard for their catches...
