Sergey Dankvert, Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor, Participates in the Business Forum “Russian –Latin America”
The Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor took part in business forum “Russia – Latin America” which was held in Montevideo, March 29, 2016, reports www.megafishnet.com with reference to Rosselkhoznadzor.
The Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor stressed the importance of relations between Russia and Latin America. In particular, Sergey Dankvert declared that due to the fact that since 2000 Russia had started strengthening and developing relations with the South America Russia obtained products not affecting the Russian market as these products in comparison with the products from the USA and EU are not highly subsidized.
However, it was noted that not all countries could take advantage of the opportunities opened by the Russian market after imposing special economic restrictions on several countries previously exporting considerable amount of food products to Russia. Sergey Dankvert stressed the possibility of considerable supplies due to retaliatory measures against the EU and Turkey.
At the plenary meeting it was noted that dairy products from Latin America competed with products from New Zealand and occupied a part of New Zealand’s products with butter and cheese.
Sergey Dankvert, being acting Chairman of the International Commissions between Russia and Argentina, Chili, Ecuador, and Uruguay noted that activities aimed at establishing relations between Russia and Latin American countries were performed on a permanent basis.
In conclusion Sergey Dankvert asked to support granting Russia FMD free status at the OIE meeting which will be held in Paris in May.
Preliminary results were sent by the expert commission and the countries will be able to familiarize themselves with them.
