Russian fleets harvested ca.4.5mln MT of fish

By November 20, 2019 the total volume of aquatic biological resources harvested by Russian fleets amounted to ca.4.5 million metric tons, 2% down on the corresponding result of last year.

In the Far East Fishery Basin the catch decreased by 0.2% to 3.2 million tons. Pollock catches rose by 66,200 tonnes to 1.62 million tonnes, while cod catches jumped by 30,000 tonnes to 140,500 tonnes. The catch of Pacific herring increased by 39,800 tonnes to 280,500 tonnes.

In the Azov-Black Sea Fisheries Basin 57,800 tonnes were caught, 1.4% less than last year. Catches of anchovy decreased by 5,300 tonnes to 19,700 tonnes. Sprat catches amounted to 17,940 tonnes, 4,200 tonnes up on than last year.

In the North Fisheries Basin the Russian fleets harvested 464,940 tonnes, 15.9% less than last year. Cod catches decreased by 24,800 tonnes to 301,700 tons. Haddock catches decreased by 15,000 tonnes to 68,500 tonnes.

In the Volga-Caspian Fisheries Basin catches declined by 7.5% to 53,100 tonnes. The figure included 22,800 tonnes of big and small fish, 100 tonnes less than last year. Catches of freshwater species rose by 3,020 tonnes to about 21,500 tonnes.

In the Western Fisheries Basin catches rose by 2.2% on last year to 67,900 tonnes. Sprat catches increased by 1,600 tonnes to 36,400 tonnes. Baltic herring catches increased by 300 tonnes to 20,910 tonnes.

In the foreign zones the Russian fishing fleet harvested 300,000 tonnes, 19.4% down than last year. In the convention areas and the open part of the World Ocean, the Russian fishermen increased their catch by 27.5% to 322,500 tonnes.
