Russian fishery industry needs further deregulation

January 11, 2019 10:12

Russian fishery industry still has quite a number of excessive barriers preventing the sector from more efficient operation, according to a dedicated study conducted by the national research university Higher School of Economics and VARPE Association of Fishery Industrials and Exporters.

The nation’s fishery companies have identified three directions of regulation as the most burdening for the industry:

1. Delivery and transshipment of catches, clearance for sailing and admittance to harbor;

2. Veterinary control and surveillance;

3. Transport safety.

Taking into account the study, the National Research University Higher School of Economics will work out proposals for deregulation in the fishery industry, including the use of a risk-based approach and the Transformation of Business Climate Plan (TBC).
