Russia’s vet watchdog cracks down on fake transit operations

Russia’s vet watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor has disclosed a false transit scheme for fish supplies from a Belarusian company. As of September 23 current, import from this company is prohibited, reports Megafishnet.com.

According to Rosselkhoznadzor, the illegal scheme covers products of GBMMK LLC from Belarus to Kyrgyzstan.

It has turned out that the Belarusian intermediary company carries out illegal deliveries of fish products to the Russian market, using a false transit scheme to Kyrgyzstan.

The purpose of the unscrupulous companies is to supply controlled products prohibited for import into Russia. That means shipment from unapproved Belarusian enterprises or shipment of non-certified products.

"Intermediary companies draw up documents for the movement of these goods from Belarus via Russia to the recipients in the EAEU countries, where the import of such products is not prohibited. At the points of preliminary notifications on the Russian-Belarusian section of the state border of the Russian Federation, documents for transit are presented, but in fact the products are unloaded on the territory of Russia," the press service of Rosselkhoznadzor explained.

To detect and prevent false transit, Russia’s vet watchdog introduced a mechanism for recording the movement of controlled products across the territory of the Russian Federation from the sending enterprises of the EAEU countries to the receiving enterprises of the Union countries using information systems.

"The electronic notification system assumes the cancellation of documents after the cargo arrives at the final destination in the EAEU countries. Rosselkhoznadzor regularly analyzes outstanding notifications and promptly informs the competent authorities of the EAEU member states about this," Rosselkhoznadzor reported, stressing that this system is designed to ensure the traceability of transit products and deprive unscrupulous companies of the possibility of false transit.

The analysis of the movement of controlled products from the Republic of Belarus to the EAEU countries through the territory of the Russian Federation will be continued.
