Russia and Japan launching mutual consultations on fishery cooperation

Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs began consultations on implementation of the Agreement on Cooperation on Several Matters in the Field of Fisheries of Maritime Living Resources between the Government of Japan and the Government of the Russian Federation (the document dated February 21, 1998), reports http://www.megafishnet.com/.

During the consultations' round the sides will study the results of Japanese fishing operations in 2011 in the waters of the South Kuril Islands and approve capture quotas and fishery conditions for the Japanese fishermen in 2012.

At the end of the consultations Russia and Japan will sign a protocol and a memorandum of understanding.
