Russia and China to integrate vet control systems

On March 31, the Russian vet watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor and the General Customs Administration of the People's Republic of China) held video talks on the possibility of integrating information systems in the field of veterinary supervision of the two countries in order to exchange veterinary certificates in electronic form for controlled goods of animal origin, fish inclusive, in mutual trade, reports Megafishnet.com.

According to Rosselkhoznadzor, during the negotiations, Rosselkhoznadzor noted that the Russians use the eCert component of the "VetIS" information system for processing export vet documents and the Chinese side can check the authenticity of certificates for products coming to China from Russia by entering the document numbers and the dates of their issuance.

The Chinese colleagues reverted that the Russian side can also find out whether the veterinary certificates for products imported from China are genuine as the Russians have access to the Chinese system similar to "VetIS".

The Rosselkhoznadzor also proposed to improve the form of the veterinary certificate which accompanies animal products delivered to the PRC, by adding a QR code to enable the Chinese to verify the authenticity of the document. Representatives of the General Customs Administration of the People's Republic of China approved the possibility of updating the certificate form.

During the meeting, the Russians also raised the topic of integration of information systems in the field of veterinary surveillance in Russia and China. The General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China has agreed that this process “will be a very important step in the framework of trade cooperation between the two countries”.

The parties have also agreed that the technical specialists of the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China will draw up a plan for the integration of the above information platforms.
