Rosselkhoznadzor paving way for the Russian fish exporters on the Namibian market

In the end of January 2021 Russia’s vet watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor held talks with the Namibian colleagues on the bilateral trade of seafood, reports Megafishnet.com.

According to Rosselkhoznadzor, two Namibian producers of farmed mollusks currently enjoy the right to deliver their products to Russia and 24 Russian companies are willing to bring seafood to Namibia. The list of the latter suppliers has been growing as of late.

In this connection, Rosselkhoznadzor asked Namibia’s Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources to agree on a veterinary certificate that could be used when exporting fish from Russia. The certificate, developed by Rosselkhoznadzor in accordance with the requirements of the competent supervisory authority of Namibia, guarantees that the products meet high quality and safety standards. The Namibian side said that it shared Russia's interest and was ready to give it consent to the veterinary certificate proposed by Rosselkhoznadzor as soon as possible.

The successful negotiations were another step in encouraging Russian fish supplies to the domestic market of the South African country.
