QUALITY IN GOOD HANDS
‘We’re seeing higher marks for all of our facilites and we can be extremely pleased with the state of our production,’ said Erlendur Stefánsson, HB Grandi’s quality manager, commenting on the results of an IFS quality audit that was carried out at the company’s processing plants in Reykjavík, Akranes and Vopnafjördur, as well as at HB Grandi's subsidiary Vignir G Jonsson.
According to the audit’s results, all four processing facilities scored high marks, resulting in all of them being placed in the ‘higher level’ category.
The auditor spent two days at each location and the quality systems were examined in detail. During the inspection, the premises were inspected and staff asked about their work and aspects that are important for product quality. Traceability studies were carried out to ensure full traceability throughout every stage of the production.
"By meeting the IFS requirements for quality systems we are ensuring that we remain at the forefront of development in quality standards for modern food production,” he said and added that the staff performed extremely well and all the queries from the inspector were answered.
The auditor presented a list of items that require attention and Erlendur Stefánsson said that work on this has already begun.
