Provisional results of Russia’s fishing operations in 2019

According to provisional figures as per the end of December 2019, in 2019 the Russian fishing fleets harvested 4.84 million metric tons of finfish and other aquatic species. This is 105.89 thousand tonnes or 2.1% lower than last year.

In the Russian Far East Fisheries Basin total catches slightly decreased by 1% to 3.36 million tonnes. Alaska pollock catches totalled ca.1.71 million tonnes (+47.81 thousand tonnes), cod - 152 thousand tonnes (+30.43 thousand tonnes), herring - 367.24 thousand tonnes (+28 thousand tonnes).

The total harvest of Pacific salmons amounted to 498.18 thousand tonnes, 26% less on 2018 and 41% more on 2017.

In the Northern Fisheries Basin, the Russian fleets harvested 491 thousand tonnes of fish, 14.5% less than last year.

The nation’s catch in the Western Fisheries Basin amounted to 75.72 thousand tons, 4.6% less than last year.

In the Volga-Caspian Fisheries Basin catches rose by 7% to 72.4 thousand tonnes.

In the Azov-Black Sea Fisheries Basin catches declined by 2% to 72 thousand tonnes.

In the foreign zones the Russian fishing fleets harvested 375 thousand tonnes, 13% less on last year.

In the convention areas and the international waters of the World Ocean the Russian harvest increased by 24.5% to 329.3 thousand tonnes.
