Overview of fish production in Russia in January-October 2022
According to Russia's Federal State Statistics Service, the nation's production of fresh or chilled fish fillets in October 2022 amounted to 385.9 metric tons, 24.9% down on October 2021 and 5.1% down on September 2022. The year-on-year rise in fish fillet production in January-October 2022 amounted to 23.5%.
According to Russia’s Federal Agency for Fishery (Rosrybolovstvo), frozen fish fillet output in October totalled 13.4 thousand metric tons, which is lower than in October 2021 and September 2022, by 20.1% and 10.6%, respectively. Over the first ten months of 2022, the production of frozen fish fillets increased by 18.7% compared to January-October 2021.
Frozen fish production in October amounted to 244.4 thousand tonnes, which is 7.7% more than in October 2021 and 13.3% more than in September 2022. In the first ten months of 2022, 2.3 million MT of frozen fish were produced, which is 7.9% less than in the same period of 2021. Canned fish production in October totalled 64 million standard canned fish units, which is 1.3% less than in October 2021, but 20.1% more than in September 2022. The YOY decline in the production of canned fish in Jan-Oct 2022 amounted to 3.2%.
The output of fish preserves amounted to 23.7 million standard cans, which is 17.4% less than in October 2021, but 7% more than in September 2022. During the first ten months of 2022, production of fish preserves declined by 9.8% on January - October 2021.
The positive trend in fish production has become possible thanks to the state program of investment quotas linked to the construction of modern fish processing plants and fishing vessels, Rosrybolovstvo reported.
