The authorities of Sevastopol, a city with a region’s powers and a naval base in Crimea, have developed a project to create a fishing and processing cluster in this important fishery area in the south of Russia, reports Megafishnet.com.

According to the city’s administration, apart from fishery, the project includes construction of a processing plant, which will allow selling products with added value to other Russian regions and for export rather than unprocessed frozen fish.

The total investments into the cluster are estimated at 1.5 billion rubles (in excess of $20 million), and it is planned to create about 1.5 thousand jobs.

At the current stage the city’s fishery industry numbers 43 companies of various sizes and 16 large fishing trawlers, apart from smaller boats.
