HB GRANDI’S FAMILY SEAMEN’S DAY

The Seamen’s Day will be celebrated today on the 1st of June. As in previous years, HB Grandi is one of the sponsors of the Festival of the Sea, which is organised by Associated Icelandic Ports and Seaman's Day Council. This year there will be a varied set of family entertainments offered by HB Grandi at Nordurgardur.

According to HB Grandi marketing manager Brynjólfur Eyjólfsson, the festival area at Nordurgardur will be open from 1200 on Seamen’s Day. Refreshments in the form of drinks, hot dogs, waffles and ice sticks will be available, as well as balloons for the children, and much more. There will be a circus as part of the event, with activities for children of all ages and a busy set of entertainments for the whole family.

The entertainments kick off at 1300 with a set by Atli Thór and Gói. Twenty minutes later a team from Lazy Town take the stage and at 1350 conjurer Jón Arnór and Palli Jójó are on. Both of these took part in Iceland Got Talent to an enthusiastic response. Skoppa and Skrítla take the stage at 1430 and the formal entertainments end at 1600.

HB Grandi has for many years offered coffee and refreshments for guests at the company’s canteen at Nordurgardur, but this year the entire event will be held outdoors. There’s a simple reason for this. A year ago the number of people attending was so great that even a considerably larger canteen would not have been able to cope with the demand.
