Frozen fish market situation in Murmansk as per 25 December 2007
As per 22 January 2008 the fresh frozen fish market is being marked by decreasing prices of several fish species, market players based in Murmansk told http://www.fishnet-russia.com/ (https://www.fishnet.ru/).
After the New Year holidays (ended on 9 January 2008) the prices of cheap fish species like herring, blue whiting and polar cod (Boreogadus saida) started decreasing gradually. Offers of blue whiting backs appeared at a price of RUB50.00. The wholesalers are disposing of the inventory of the autumn catch herring waiting for new catches.
However, the prices of bottom fish species have been staying at a relatively high level, traders prefer not to buy this fish species at present expecting the prices to go down.
