Fish and seafood exports from Russia jumped nearly one third
From January 1 to December 15, 2023, exports of fish and seafood from Russia amounted to 2.08 million metric tons, according to the customs statistics and the Rosselkhoznadzor's Argus information system.
During the same period in 2022, Russia exported fish and seafood worth just over 1.6 million MT. Thus, this year the volume of fish exports increased by almost 30% compared to last year.
China has become the largest export destination. The seafood shipments to this country have increased almost 3 times, exceeding 1.2 million MT.
The second place belongs to the Republic of Korea, which supplied almost half a million tons.
The Netherlands, Belarus and Japan also entered the top five. The volume of exports of Russian finfish and other seafood to these countries amounted to 117.2 thousand, 65.6 thousand and 33.5 thousand metric tons, respectively.
